Mayor, 2 Councilmembers Sworn in for New Terms in Statesboro

Three returning elected officials in the City of Statesboro were sworn in Tuesday for their new terms in office. Bulloch County Probate Judge Lorna Deloach issued oaths of office to Mayor Jonathan McCollar, Councilman Phil Boyum, and Councilman John Riggs at the beginning of Tuesday’s regular city council meeting at City Hall. McCollar is beginning his second term in office, having defeated Ernest Lawton in November 2021. Boyum, who ran unopposed in district 1 in November, is beginning his third term. He was first elected in 2012. Riggs defeated Kristine Yager-Rushton in district 4, and was first elected in 2009.
