ATLANTA, Ga. – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating the in-custody death of Edward Bailey, 39, of Atlanta, better known as rapper Young Scooter, following a domestic dispute involving gunfire. The incident occurred on March 28, 2025, after Atlanta Police Department (APD) officers responded to a 911 call.
According to preliminary information, APD received a 911 call shortly after 5:00 p.m. reporting a domestic disturbance with gunfire at a home on William Nye Drive. When officers arrived, Bailey fled the scene, jumping over fences into nearby yards before being apprehended.
During the arrest, officers noticed Bailey was bleeding from his leg and provided immediate medical aid. He was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead. The cause of his injuries remains under investigation.
Bailey’s body has been sent to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The GBI, which was called in at the request of APD, is conducting an independent investigation—standard procedure for in-custody deaths.
Once the GBI completes its investigation, the findings will be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
Bailey, known professionally as Young Scooter, was a prominent figure in Atlanta’s rap scene, collaborating with artists like Future, Gucci Mane, and Chief Keef.
