The Evans County Board of Education has retained new legal representation, Board members decided Tuesday.
The vote to engage a new law firm followed the departure of longtime Board attorney Ronald K. Hallman. His last day was June 30.
The Board opted to go with Pereira, Kirby, Kinsinger & Nguyen, LLP, (PKKN LLP) a firm created in 2023 from the well-known Harben, Hartley, & Hawkins, LLP and Thompson, Sweeny, Kinsinger & Pereira, P.C. Prior to the merger, both firms specialized in representation for school boards and continuing education for school boards at the state and national level.
Attorneys from the PKKN LLP are members of the National Council of School Attorneys, the Georgia Council of School Attorneys, and the Local Government and Education Law Sections of the State Bar. They also offer courses for the Georgia School Board Association and through the University of Georgia’s School of Public & International Affairs.
Board members voted after an executive session, which included discussion on the new law firm and a new Chief Financial Officer.
