This is a press release from the Carr campaign.
Sheriffs from across Georgia announced their endorsement of Attorney General Chris Carr for Governor, citing his proven record of partnering with law enforcement to crack down on violent crime, declare war on fentanyl, and address the challenges of mental health and addiction.
“Attorney General Chris Carr has always had our back,” said Sheriff Stacy Williams of Haralson County. “He’s taken the fight head-on against crime and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us to keep our communities safe. That’s the kind of partner we can count on in the Governor’s Office.”
Sheriff Lenn Wood of Coweta County added: “As Attorney General, Chris Carr doesn’t just talk about public safety – he delivers. He built the Gang Prosecution Unit, took on fentanyl, and understands the mental health and addiction challenges we’re up against. Most importantly, he’s working with us on real solutions. That’s why law enforcement across Georgia trusts him to keep our state strong.”
“I’m honored to have the trust of so many of Georgia’s sheriffs,” said Chris Carr. “These men and women know firsthand what it takes to keep communities safe, and they’ve seen my record in action. Their support sends a clear message: I’m the candidate who will get the job done. As governor, I’ll ensure Georgia remains the toughest state in the nation on crime.”
As Attorney General, Chris Carr has:
- Secured more than 115 gang convictions since creating Georgia’s first statewide Gang Prosecution Unit in 2022.
- Rescued and assisted over 200 children and secured more than 60 convictions through the Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit.
- Maintained a 100 percent conviction rate in child sex trafficking cases.
- Launched the Statewide Opioid Task Force to crack down on fentanyl and drug trafficking.
- Launched Georgia’s first Organized Retail Crime Unit to take down criminal rings stealing from businesses.
