Students from Ogeechee Technical College recently visited Station 1 on Grady Avenue to show appreciation for the county’s new Fire/EMS department now serving the campus. The group brought mugs filled with hot chocolate or coffee, Little Debbie snacks, Valentine’s Day candy, and fun glasses as a small thank-you to the firefighters and EMS personnel.

During the visit, student club members took photos and spent time talking with first responders about the new separation between city and county Fire/EMS services. They also discussed important campus safety information, including the importance of dialing 911 first in an emergency, knowing your building name when calling for help, and being aware of where AEDs and medical bags are located in campus buildings.

“Taking time to visit Station 1 was a simple way for our students to show appreciation for the people who help keep our campus safe,” said Julia Cohen, English instructor at Ogeechee Technical College. “It also gave them a chance to learn more about how the new county Fire/EMS services operate and what we can all do to be better prepared in an emergency on campus.”

This is a press release from Ogeechee Technical College.
