A man arrested on child sexual exploitation charges has been sentenced in Bulloch County Superior Court.
30-year-old Matthew Dylan Murphy was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on November 5, 2025 on one count of Possession or Control of Any Material Depicting a Minor in Sexually Explicit Conduct. According to the warrant, Murphy had material which “depicts a minor or a portion of a minor’s body in sexually explicit conduct by possessing multiple images and videos that depict minors engaged in various sexual acts.”
He was booked into the Bulloch County Jail where he remained for the duration of this case’s adjudication. Judge Michael Muldrew denied bond in March 2026, citing Murphy’s “significant risk to persons in community and of committing a felony.”
In August 2026, Murphy waived his right to a jury trial and requested a bench trial before Judge Muldrew.
Murphy entered a negotiated plea earlier this month, pleading guilty to Sexual Exploitation of Children in exchange for a sentence of five years to serve behind bars, followed by fifteen years on probation.
He was also ordered to comply with:
- A curfew, once released
- Sex Offender Registry requirements
- Special conditions for computers – Murphy is only permitted to use a computer, cell phone, or electronic device that is monitored with software by the Georgia Department of Community Supervision. He’s also barred from using any data encryption program or apps that require a passcode.
Murphy received credit for time served in the Bulloch County Jail dating back to November 5, 2025.
As of publishing, the Georgia Department of Corrections does not show Murphy in state custody. It is unclear if Murphy is still in the Bulloch County Jail as the Sheriff’s Office has limited public access to the portal showing current inmates.
The plea was negotiated by ADA Stuart Patray.
