At the request of the Henry County Police Department (HCPD), GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in Henry County, GA. One 16-year-old boy was shot and killed in the incident. No officers were injured.
Preliminary information indicates that on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at approximately 6:33 p.m., a HCPD officer saw two teenagers, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, in the parking lot of a Krispy Kreme located at 120 Hwy 138 W, Stockbridge, GA. The officer approached the teenagers and spoke with them briefly before giving verbal commands for the 17-year-old to take his hands out of his pockets. The 17-year-old then passed a handgun to the 16-year-old, and the 16-year-old ran away from the area with the gun. The officer pursued him on foot and gave verbal commands for him to drop the gun. The 16-year-old did not drop the gun, and the officer shot at the 16-year-old, hitting him. Medical aid was provided to the 16-year-old. The 16-year-old was pronounced deceased on scene.
A gun was recovered at the scene.
