Statesboro Police arrested two individuals Saturday on drugs and firearms charges.
SPD Patrol officers were conducting foot patrol just before midnight on March 15 in the area of Eagle Court Condos on Lanier Drive. According to the Statesboro Police Department, this area has suffered from “significant levels of violence and theft in the past, and foot patrols are an effective way for officers to prevent criminal activity.”
The officers observed a vehicle with its doors open and approached it, noting the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded marijuana and three firearms, one of which was equipped with a so-called “Glock switch” designed to convert the handgun from semi-automatic to fully automatic in violation of Federal and State law.
Two individuals connected to the vehicle were arrested:
1. Cincere Quarterman (21, Ludowici, Ga) was charged with 1 count of Possession of an Unlawful Weapon and 1 count of Possession of Marijuana (Less than One Ounce)
2. Sayveon Hall (23, Pooler, Ga) was charged with 1 count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon or First Offender and 1 count of Possession of Marijuana (Less than One Ounce)
Both individuals were transported to the Bulloch County Jail for processing. Both cases have been forwarded to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) for review and potential prosecution.
