Update: 7/2/25 – This article has been updated to include the booking photo Sampson following its release by the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office.
The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in the death of a 2-year-old Bulloch County child.
BCSO said Tuesday in a press release that 23-year-old Lenorace Sampson has been arrested and charged with two counts of Felony Murder, two counts of Cruelty to Children in the 1st Degree, and Aggravated Assault.
From the news release:
This arrest stems from an investigation into the death of a 2 year-old child on October 6, 2023. The investigation began after the Bulloch County 911 Emergency Operation Center received a call about a 2 year-old child not breathing. The call originated from the address of 106 Lindsay Court, unit A, which is in Statesboro, Ga (Bulloch County). Law enforcement from the Bulloch County S.O. and the Statesboro Police Department responded to the scene along with Bulloch County EMS. Lifesaving efforts by all responding personnel were unsuccessful.
After a lengthy investigation by the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, which consisted of multiple interviews of suspects and witnesses, conversations, and meetings with the Medical Examiner’s office of the GBI (Pooler, Ga. Office) and discussions with the District Attorney’s Office (Ogeechee Circuit), the case was presented to the Grand Jury for the Superior Court of Bulloch County in which the Grand Jurors did find a True Bill Indictment vs LENORACE SAMPSON for the criminal offenses previously listed. The death of the child was determined to have been caused by blunt force trauma.
Sampson is in the Bulloch County Jail, but has not been formally booked, according to BCSO, which is the reason no booking photo has been released.
