On 02/24/2026, at approximately 00:47, Central radioed a request for a deputy to respond to the area of 24 and Five Chop Road in reference to a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, I found the vehicle, a 2013 black Jeep Patriot, fully engulfed in flames. The Statesboro Fire Department successfully extinguished the fire. The driver was not injured and had exited the vehicle before it caught fire. The Jeep was towed from the scene. Nothing further.

In 2013, a new law took effect in Georgia prohibiting commercial sites from charging fees to remove inaccurate mug shots. The law also barred law enforcement agencies from releasing mug shots to sites that charge a fee. As a result of the changes, a photo may be removed in some instances. To read the exemptions or to request removal from The Georgia Virtue, visit the ‘Contact‘ tab. Please read the full explanation before submitting a request for removal.
