Man Arrested for Enticing a Child While on Trip with 2 Juveniles

A man is behind bars after being arrested by law enforcement while on an overnight trip with two juveniles.

The Statesboro Police Department said Tuesday that the agency was contacted by the mother of a female juvenile on June 21, 2025 about contact with an adult male family member. According to a press release, the mother had accessed her daughter’s iPad and reviewed “various texts from the adult male, later identified as Rico Curry (37, Atlanta, Ga), which were sexually graphic and suggestive.”

From the news release:

By the time she found the messages, the mother had already given permission for her two daughters, both juveniles, to accompany Curry on an overnight trip to Savannah.

Given the clear intent of the messages, detectives were extremely concerned that the juveniles would become the victims of a much more serious crime. Working with phone service providers they were able to determine that Curry and the juveniles were located in the area of Skidaway Island. Detectives reached out to the Chatham County Police Department for assistance and those officers immediately began the search.

Several hours later, CCPD officers were able to locate and arrest Curry and return the juveniles safely to their mother. Curry was booked into the Chatham County Jail and later transferred back to Bulloch County. He is charged with one count of Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes. He remains in custody pending further judicial action.
