Brooklet Municipal Election Canceled After 3 Qualify Without Opposition

After three individuals qualified to serve on the Brooklet City Council without opposition, the city canceled the municipal election.

Brooklet Election Superintendent, Lori Phillips, attested to the following statement on August 21:

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-291, notice is hereby given that the City of Brooklet General Municipal Election for City Council Post 3, City Council Post 4, and City Council Post 5, scheduled for November 4, 2025, at the Bulloch County Recreation Department (Brooklet Community Center), is cancelled. The following candidates have qualified for office and are unopposed.

  • For City Council Post 3: Rebecca Kelly
  • For City Council Post 4: Phillip H. Oliver
  • For City Council Post 5: Sheila Wentz

The above unopposed candidates shall be deemed to have voted for themselves

The cancellation of a city election in uncontested elections is standard to avoid unnecessary costs and resource allocation when prevailing parties have no opposing candidates.
