Rep. Lehman Franklin, Mayor McCollar Join Georgia Power for Discount and Resource Day

State Representative Lehman Franklin (R-Statesboro), in partnership with Jonathan McCollar, Mayor of Statesboro, and Georgia Power, will host a Discount and Resource Day on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Statesboro City Council Chambers.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity for Georgia Power customers,” said Rep. Franklin. “With the holidays just around the corner, our goal is to help educate participants and ensure those who qualify can access meaningful savings before the end of the season. For eligible households, the discount is applied instantly, providing the real possibility of relief on energy bills before the end of the year. I am grateful to Mayor Jonathan McCollar and Georgia Power for their ongoing commitment to helping Georgia families secure the best possible rates on their energy bills during this important time of year.”

“I appreciate Representative Franklin and Georgia Power for bringing these critical resources directly to our community,” said Statesboro Mayor Jonathan McCollar. “Many of our residents, especially seniors and families on fixed incomes, are feeling the impact of rising costs. We’re pleased to open our doors at City Hall to host this important event, which makes it easier for families to access meaningful savings on their monthly energy bills.”

The event is designed to educate participants and provide guidance on accessing potential savings on monthly energy bills. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about programs that may help reduce monthly energy bills. Eligible participants could receive a monthly discount of $33.50 on their Georgia Power bill.

Participants are eligible for benefits if they receive ONE of the following:

  • · Social Security Disability Insurance;
  • · Supplemental Security Income;
  • · Participate in the House Choice Voucher Program; -OR-
  • · Are 65 years or older and have an income at or below 200 percent of the federal income guidelines.
