Public Comment
John Ratcliffe – Retired pilot and commissioner wanted to discuss youth flight program on October 11.
Lawton Sack – Addressed commissioners about the agenda item to approve a new county manager, specifically the lack of public input or information about the individual set to be approved. “This may be the best hire this county has ever made, we don’t know. We hope so,” Sack said. “But I once again encourage you, you’ve got to involve the people in this process.” He said he hoped the new county manager had the mindset of listening to the people and involving them in the process.
Chairman David Bennett replied to Sack by saying they have tried to ‘protect the candidates’ throughout the process because there are not a lot of qualified candidates. He said the county form of government is a representative democracy so ‘the people’ are not always afforded an opportunity to give input in the process.

Motion to Approve a Contract with Ellis Wood Contracting to perform roadway paving and repairs along County Road 148 Highpoint Circle at three (3) locations and along County Road 245 Josh Deal Road at one (1) location in the eastbound lane approaching the intersection of State Route 67. The cost for this work is to be funded by TSPLOST.
