A man who was charged with Child Molestation and Interstate Interference with Custody entered a guilty plea one week after a Bulloch County grand jury indicted him on his charges.
Warrants taken out by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation alleged that Christopher Lee Spearman, who was 23-years-old at the time, committed the act of Child Molestation between January 1, 2024 and March 4, 2024 when he committed an indecent act with a child under the age of sixteen.
Agents with the GBI also charged Spearman with Interstate Interference with Custody after Spearman reportedly left the state with the minor. While the warrants were filed in court in December 2025, they were signed by a Superior Court judge in March of 2024, when Spearman left the state. The minor was returned to Georgia well before Spearman’s arrest.
Spearman, however, found himself with legal issues in the state of Louisiana where he was facing charges for illegal possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. In May of 2024, he escaped from a local jail after reportedly assaulting a jailer, but was captured shortly after he fled. Additional charges in Louisiana included Aggravated Escape, 2nd Degree battery, Simple Robbery, Resisting an Officer (with force or violence), and Resisting an Officer. He remained in custody there until he was extradited back to Georgia.
Jail records indicate Spearman was booked into the Bulloch County Jail on his warrants in December 2025 and a grand jury subsequently indicted him on February 4, 2026 on the Child Molestation and Interference with Custody charges, as well as Statutory Rape. Spearman was not charged with Kidnapping because the minor victim reportedly left with him on her own accord.
On February 11, 2026, Spearman, represented by the Public Defender’s Office, entered a guilty plea on the Child Molestation charge and the Interference with Custody charge. As part of the plea agreement prepared by ADA Candace Deloach, the Statutory Rape charge was dismissed.
On the Child Molestation charge, Spearman was sentenced to six years in prison followed by nine years on probation. He was given credit for time served in jail while the case was pending as well.
On the Interference with Custody charge, Spearman was sentenced to 12 months to serve concurrently. This is the maximum sentence for this charge as it is a misdemeanor.
Spearman must also register as a Sex Offender upon release. In addition to the minor victim and her family, Spearman is also barred from having contact with anyone under the age of eighteen. His sex offender conditions will remain in effect for life.
As of publishing, the Georgia Department of Corrections had acknowledged receipt of Spearman’s conviction, but he was still awaiting pickup in the Bulloch County Jail.
