A man wanted on warrants for kidnapping, aggravated assault, and a handful of other charges was recently arrested by Georgia Southern Police.
According to warrants filed in the Clerk’s Office, Johnny Lee Grissom was wanted on charges of Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, Aggravated Assault (Strangulation), and two counts of Simple Battery (Family Violence) stemming from an incident that happened in August 2024.
Court records allege that then 24-year-old Grissom, on August 31, 2024 between 2:47 a.m. and 3:16 a.m., ‘willingly and knowingly abducted and took away’ a female who sustained bodily injuries after being forced to make an emergency exit out of a moving vehicle operated by Grissom.
Warrants also allege that Grissom bit the female victim and choked her while in a vehicle on Lanier Drive and, on the same date, also used a ‘rear choke technique to subdue’ the female victim in a parking lot on the Georgia Southern campus. The False Imprisonment charge arose from Grissom’s alleged refusal to allow the female victim to exit the vehicle.
The arrest warrants were signed by a Magistrate Judge on September 5, 2024 and have been outstanding ever since.
25-year-old Grissom was arrested nearly a year later on July 14, 2025. The warrants were filed in the Bulloch County Superior Court Clerk’s Office a little more than two weeks later on August 1.
As of August 4, Grissom did not have an attorney of record.
