“Chop Shop” discovered in Picket Fences Subdivision, 8 stolen vehicles seized

One person has been arrested following a two-year investigation in Rincon.

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Drug Suppression Unit, in coordination with the Rincon Police Department, discovered and, recently, dismantled a “chop shop” operating in the Picket Fences subdivision.

The “chop shop,” covertly operating within the residential community, was identified as a central hub for dismantling and redistributing stolen vehicles. The operation led to the seizure of eight stolen vehicles, reported stolen from various locations across the state of Georgia.

49-year-old Arthur Young was arrested and charged with several felonies, including theft by receiving stolen property and possession of vehicle with altered vin number.
