This is a press release from the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has urged Congress to adopt Georgia’s election and list maintenance procedures as a model for the nation through a letter to the House Committee on House Administration chaired by Representative Bryan Steil, R-WI.

Specifically, Secretary Raffensperger asked for Congressional action on reforming the antiquated National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) to allow for new technologies to be used to keep voter rolls as up to date as possible.

Georgia currently does more voter list maintenance than any other state in America.

Also, he urged adoption of four additional reforms

  • Requiring photo ID for all forms of voting
  • Banning ballot harvesting in federal elections

  • Standardizing post-election risk-limiting audits
  • Ensuring that only Americans can vote in American elections in the Constitution

“These proposals are common-sense reforms that have helped make Georgia a national model for secure and accessible elections, where it is easy to vote and hard to cheat,” said Raffensperger. “I urge you to consider these measures as a blueprint for restoring confidence in our democratic process and ensuring the integrity of every vote.”

Secretary Raffensperger has spearheaded partnerships with the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), United States Postal Service (USPS), and Georgia’s Department of Driver Services (DDS) and remains committed to election integrity and keeping Georgia’s voter lists the most accurate in the nation.

“Georgia’s voter rolls are the cleanest in the nation thanks to the diligent partnerships we’ve made to secure our elections,” said Raffensperger. “Clean voter rolls mean clean elections. My promise to Georgia voters is elections that are free, fair, and fast -we’re doing that, and Congress should adopt these standards to shore up public confidence in election security and integrity.”
