Dr. Martin Waters will be looking for a new job next month.
The Evans County Board of Education voted Monday night to relieve the superintendent of his duties during their regular meeting.
The decision followed a closed executive session and a unanimous vote by Board members. The decision will take effect May 31, 2025.
The move by the Board follows a damning audit by the Georgia Department of Audits & Accounts which highlighted a number of problems in the central office, to include spending practices, a lack of internal controls, and problematic bidding policies.
