The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announces the promotion of Jessica Hamilton to Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the GBI’s Region 4 Investigative Office in Douglas, Georgia. SAC Hamilton will be responsible for supervising the staff assigned to the office, which serves 11 counties in South Georgia.
“Jessica Hamilton has developed a strong reputation as an investigator and leader throughout her time with the GBI,” said GBI Director Chris Hosey. “Her career reflects dedication, resilience, and a passion for investigative work. I am confident that she will excel in her new position as Special Agent in Charge and lead the GBI’s Regional Investigative Office in Douglas well, as they work to protect Georgia’s citizens and support our law enforcement partners.”
“Throughout her career, Jessica Hamilton has exemplified the GBI’s mission to serve Georgia through public service and investigative excellence,” said GBI Investigative Division Director Cynthia Adkins. “SAC Hamilton is respected not only for her investigative skills but also for her commitment to mentoring and developing others. Her experience in crime scene investigations and complex cases has prepared her well for this new role as Special Agent in Charge of the GBI’s Regional Investigative Office in Douglas.”
In 2009, SAC Hamilton began her law enforcement career at the Oconee Drug Task Force in Eastman, GA. SAC Hamilton was hired as a Special Agent with the GBI in 2011 and assigned to the Altamaha Drug Task Force, where she continued to conduct narcotics investigations. In 2012, SAC Hamilton transitioned to field work as the Crime Scene Specialist at the Regional Investigative Office in Eastman, GA. Over the next decade, SAC Hamilton continued to pursue her passion for working crime scene investigations after transferring first to the GBI’s Regional Investigative Office in Douglas and then the Regional Investigative Office in Kingsland. In 2022, SAC Hamilton was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the GBI’s Region 4 Investigative Office, where, among other types of cases, she oversaw death investigations, use of force investigations, and child abuse investigations.
SAC Hamilton is also a member of the GBI Recruitment team.
SAC Hamilton graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 2009. She is also a graduate of the National Forensic Academy in Knoxville, Tennessee.
SAC Hamilton is originally from Eastman, Georgia, and later moved to Jesup, Georgia, where she currently resides.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is comprised of three primary divisions: the GBI Crime Laboratory, the Investigative Division, and the Georgia Crime Information Center. The GBI has over 900 employees and a current budget of $162.6 million.
