Smith State Prison Corrections Officer Arrested for Smuggling Contraband 

A corrections officer employed at Smith State Prison has been arrested on two felony charges related to contraband and his job duties.

According to arrest records, Travis Leon Hall was booked into the Tattnall County Jail on July 7 for Violation of Oath by a Public Officer and Giving or Possessing Liquor, Drugs, Weapons, Etc. by an Inmate Without Consent of the Warden. Hall was arrested by the Georgia Department of Corrections’ Criminal Investigations Division.

Arrest warrants allege that Hall brought in 1,314 grams of tobacco for distribution to inmates on two months prior on May 6.

According to jail records on July 8, a magistrate judge set bond at $8,000 and Hall was subsequently released after posting bail.

OpenGeorgia records show that Hall was employed by GDC in 2024, but no records exist for 2023 or any year prior, suggesting that he was only employed with the state agency, at most, for eighteen months.
