First Responders Appreciation & Anti-Bullying Day Event to Be Held at the Statesboro Family YMCA

Southern Chiropractic & Wellness Center has teamed up with several local businesses to celebrate the Annual Bulloch County First Responders Appreciation & Anti-Bullying Day event on Saturday, October 9th from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Statesboro Family YMCA.

The event will generate much-needed attention to the issue, including how to identify and stop bullying and how support is available to help victims of bullying and cyber-bullying. There will be a bounce houses, rock wall, mechanical bull, face painting, GSU Basketball Team, Tormenta Team, cotton candy and much more. The event is free and open to the community.

49.8% of tweens (9 to 12 years old) said they experienced bullying at school and 14.5% of tweens shared they experienced bullying online. Students who experience bullying are at increased risk for depression, anxiety, sleep difficulties, lower academic achievement, and dropping out of school. Stats.

Dr. Amy Kitching, the Statesboro resident behind the Anti-Bullying Event, says “I started the event because of my growing concern for children in our community”. “This is our 4th year hosting the event and we now not only work with children but adults as well in the community to help prevent and heal wounds of in-person and cyberbullying” says Dr. Amy.

Southern Chiropractic worked with several local businesses to help make this event possible again this year. Sponsors include BBWH Insurors, JD Heating & Air, Hall & Navarro, Bulloch Solutions, The Sullivan Law Firm, ERA Hirsch Real Estate, TC Outdoors & Morris Bank. There are many other local businesses that helped to make this event happen. All donations this year will be divided between the Statesboro Police Officers Foundation and The Statesboro YMCA.
