Families are under siege today, perhaps like never before.  Modern culture is at war with everything we hold dear.  Hollywood, the internet, and the celebrities who dominate the entertainment industry mock the traditional beliefs we hold and are determined to replace the values that have served as the foundation of this country with an “anything goes” philosophy—a philosophy that has proven fatal in every generation.

Unfortunately, even the government works against us, depending on who occupies the White House and the State House. Whether it’s how we raise our children, run our businesses, or live our beliefs, far too often the government inserts itself into the very fabric of our lives.

Perhaps no place is this government intolerance more evident than the public school system.  School is where our children spend most of their day.  It’s where they are influenced, educated and often indoctrinated with values that are counter to the ones they are taught at home.  Leftist curriculum and social theories have replaced academics and have infiltrated the public education system, putting our children’s future at risk.

That is one reason school choice is so important for Georgia families.  Georgia legislators have a chance in this legislative session to put student’s education first by giving parents the opportunity to choose the best educational opportunity that fits their needs, beliefs, and values.

Legislation is moving through the State Senate as we speak that will increase school choice funding and create more options accessible to Georgia families.  More specifically, Georgia House Bill 517 would gradually increase the cap on the tax credit scholarship program. This will increase subsidizing tuition, tutoring, educational materials, and even licensed therapy if needed. This a more customized learning approach that lets parents choose what they know works best for their children and gives them the resources to have a real say in their child’s education, public or private.

Having educational options is vital for families in the twenty-first century. Education is not one size fits all and probably never was.

Families deserve an environment that is the most conducive to their child’s needs and where the school culture reinforces their values.

State legislators should stand with Georgia’s families first. Empower parents, not bureaucrats, to make the choices that are best for their children, their families, and their beliefs.

Please contact your state senator today and tell them to support Georgia House Bill 517. Every vote counts and your voice matters.
