This is a press release from the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office:
This morning at approximately 8:00 a.m., the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant at the address of 1713 Sunnyview Court in Statesboro.
The search warrant was executed in relation to an investigation of Cruelty to Animals. Located at the residence was Debra Jo Green and Kenneth Mark Berrin.
Ms. Green and Mr. Berrin are currently facing criminal charges of felony Cruelty to Animals. The number of charges that Ms. Green and Mr. Berrin will face will be determined after consultation with the District Attorney’s Office of the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit.
Ms. Green and Mr. Berrin are currently being held in the Bulloch County Jail with further court proceedings to follow. Sheriff Brown would like to express his appreciation to the agencies and individuals that assisted with this case in providing examinations, medical care, and continued housing and sustenance for these animals, to include:
- Atlanta Humane Society
- Bulloch County Humane Enforcement Division
- Bulloch County Fire Department
- the Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia
- Gateway Animal Hospital and
- a special thanks to Dr. Gary Edwards and Dr. Debbie Edwards for their professional assistance in volunteering their time and expertise in the examination and evaluation of several of the confiscated animals.
