A man who previously called Bulloch County ‘home’ has been arrested for a rape authorities say occurred in Statesboro back in 2012.
Aron Terrones, now 39-years-old, was indicted by a Bulloch County grand jury on June 30, 2025. The indictment alleges that Torrones assaulted a woman in November 2012, but was only recently identified as the individual connected to the offense after DNA results were obtained on May 13, 2025.
Following the indictment, a grand jury bench warrant was issued for Terrones’ arrest, but the case was placed on the Dead Docket in August 2025 because authorities were unable to locate him. Court documents filed by ADA Matt Breedon listed him as a fugitive.
Records from Montgomery County, Texas show that Terrones was arrested on March 27, 2026 on his pending warrants from Statesboro PD. According to jail records, Terrones was then booked into the Bulloch County Jail on April 6, 2026.
TheGeorgiaVirtue reached out to the Statesboro Police Department regarding the 2025 DNA results listed in the indictment. Captain Jared Akins said the evidence was initially collected in 2012 after the victim reported the offense.
“The DNA profile developed was entered into CODIS but did not match an offender profile until October 2024. We then reinterviewed a number of individuals, flew to Texas to obtain a confirmation sample, and interviewed Terrrones. The indictment was the end result,” Akins said in an email.
Terrones’ indictment also includes a Notice of Intent to Seek Recidivist Punishment based on Terrones’ 2010 conviction in Chatham County for Terroristic Threats, Forgery in the 1st degree, and Interference with Government Property. Court records indicate a handful of misdemeanor arrests dating back to 2008 as well, including a 2016 conviction for DUI and Driving Without a License in 2016. In several of the cases, different birth dates are listed in 1986 and 1987 and arrest paperwork shows empty data entry boxes for both the drivers license number and social security number.
Court records in Bulloch County show Terrones was arrested for Battery, Cruelty to Children in the 3rd degree, Criminal Trespass, and Failure to Appear in 2015. He entered a guilty plea on the Battery charge in State Court and the remaining charges were dismissed. In 2019, he was arrested again for Criminal Trespass, Public Drunkenness, and Giving False Name, Address, or Birthdate to a Law Enforcement Officer. He entered a plea of Nolo Contendere on all three of those charges and received 120 days in jail.
Terrones is scheduled to appear in court later in April for an arraignment on the rape charge. He’s currently being held without bond. As of April 13, he had no listed attorney of record. A dated Facebook profile indicates he is from Durango in northwestern Mexico.
