The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) has marked the one-year anniversary of Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates, a statewide, residential incentive program, which has delivered more than $25 million in rebates to households across the state.
With a full launch on March 31 of last year, Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates was the result of months of planning and coordination to implement a new rebate program that aligned with both Georgia-specific requirements and guidelines from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Inflation Reduction Act. Over the past year, GEFA built and scaled a comprehensive rebate program, establishing the infrastructure, partnerships, and participation pathways necessary to serve the diverse needs across the state.
Today, the rebate program helps ensure that Georgians can access energy-saving home improvements through multiple entry points, including multifamily properties and Do-It-Yourself purchases. Georgia’s Home Energy Rebates covers the following measures:
Since the program’s launch, more than 1,900 households have saved, on average, $1,465 on estimated annual energy costs, with an average rebate amount of $10,160. This milestone would not be possible without a robust contractor network. More than 120 contractors are actively offering incentives for the purchase and installation of energy efficient measures to increase the comfort of their customers’ homes.
