Tattnall County Man Arrested For Enticing a Minor in Undercover Sting in Statesboro

Fatayi Oriyomi Hassan (Bulloch County Jail)

A man who lives in Tattnall County was recently arrested in Bulloch County for engaging with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.

36-year-old Fatayi Oriyomi Hassan was arrested on May 31 on one count of Use of computer service to seduce, solicit, lure or entice child to commit illegal act.

According to warrants, Hassan was arrested after he traveled to Bulloch County just before 11:30 p.m. on May 31 to meet a person “he believed to be a child under the age of 16 for the purpose of engaging in vaginal intercourse with a female who he/she believed to be 14 years old.”

The warrants continue: 

Defendant Fatayi Hassan initiated a chat dialogue while on Tagged with [Corporal with the Statesboro Police Department] – who represented herself as a 14 year old juvenile female. Throughout the recorded chat session, the subject stated that he wanted to have sex with the female in a park, and that he would bring a condom.”

When Hassan arrived at the location for the meet-up, he was taken into custody by police.

The offense is a felony that carries a sentence of one to twenty years and a fine of up to $25,000 if convicted.

Hassan is currently being held at the Bulloch County Jail without bond. His public defender has requested a bond hearing.
