Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams Indicted on Theft, False Statement Charges

Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams is now facing charges at the state level in addition to his federal charges.

According to a press release from the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit on Thursday, Williams was indicted by a Burke County Grand Jury on charges of Making a False Statement and Theft by Conversion.

Will Rioux of WRDW obtained the indictment following the announcement Thursday, which details the conditions of the false statements, some of which occurred with Georgia POST council, and the alleged misappropriation of funds from the seizure fund. Read the post.
