FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Lameka Kendrick, Unit Manager at Macon State Prison (SP), to Deputy Warden of Security at Dooly SP, effective August 16, 2026. As Deputy Warden of Security, Kendrick will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and approximately 1,700 male offenders.
“Lameka has been a dedicated team member during her twenty-seven-year tenure with the agency,” said Commissioner Oliver. “We are confident her correctional knowledge and commitment to the GDC mission will benefit the staff and offenders at Dooly SP as she takes on her new role.”
Kendrick began her career with the GDC at Lee Arrendale (SP) in 1999 as a Correctional Officer, and in 2001, she transferred to Central SP as a CO II. In 2011, she transitioned to the role of Multifunctional Officer, and later that year she was promoted to Counselor II/Senior Counselor at Pulaski SP. In 2016, she was promoted to Chief Counselor at Dodge SP, and in 2022, she was promoted to Unit Manager at Dooly SP. Later that year, she transferred to Macon SP as a Unit Manager, where she currently serves.
Kendrick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Criminal Justice from Ashford University. Her departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Counselor Training, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment Academy, Sergeant’s Academy, Unit Manager Academy, Supervision I, II, and III, and numerous counseling programs.
