A Bulloch County jury found a man guilty on murder charges and a number of others Friday after a multi-day trial.
Lucas Lopez Fields, now 20, was convicted of Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault (2 counts), Robbery by Force, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act (3 counts) in connection with the gang-related robbery and shooting death of 17-year-old Jabari Nasir Walker. The announcement was made Friday by District Attorney Catherine Sumner.
According to the District Attorney’s Office:
On August 20, 2023, Statesboro Police Department (SPD) officers and detectives responded to the Eagle Court Apartments on Lanier Drive regarding a robbery by force. An adult male reported being robbed of his possessions by several male suspects who fled the scene in a vehicle. Less than one hour later, SPD officers and detectives responded to a residence on Ladd Circle following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 17-year-old Jabari Walker, who had died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators quickly linked the two incidents and determined they were connected to a vehicle previously reported stolen to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). Working in tandem with BCSO investigators, SPD officers recovered and processed the stolen vehicle after it was abandoned.
Over the following two months, detectives methodically executed search warrants for electronic data and physical premises while conducting extensive witness interviews. On November 9, 2023, four individuals—including Fields—were arrested and charged with various offenses related to the homicide and active participation in the criminal street gangs Sex Money Murder and RMO. Fields has remained in continuous custody since his 2023 arrest.
Superior Court Judge Ronnie Thompson immediately sentenced Fields to Life in Prison plus 15 years. Assistant District Attorney JB Edwards prosecuted the case.
Co-Defendants
The three other defendants arrested alongside Fields include Cameron Yohance Rock, Jeramiah Saleil Seago, and Jaylan Jryan Davis.
Rock entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge in April 2026 to a plea of Voluntary Manslaughter, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (x2), Robbery, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and Unlawful Criminal Street Gang Activity.
Seago entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge in June 2026 to the charge of Voluntary Manslaughter, Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony (x2), Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Street Gang Activity, and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property. He was sentenced to 30 years to serve followed by 40 years on probation. He received credit for time served dating back to his arrested in November 2023.
Davis‘ case is still pending.
