Bulloch County Schools’ Graduation Performance Academy is accepting applications for its summer session.
High school students in grades 9 through 12, or their parents or guardians may complete an interest application online or speak with their school counselor. Space is limited, so apply now. Visit bullochschools.org/gpa to learn more and complete an interest application. Counselors will review the applications and contact applicants regarding next steps.
The program helps students recover required course credits to either remain on-track to graduate high school in four years or to complete high school. Students participate by using free access to Edgenuity to complete courses. While students in the program may complete their coursework on their own schedule, they will have weekly progress checks and goal setting with a graduation specialist for accountability. They will receive support from the school district’s certified teachers in each core subject area: math, science, English, and social studies. Faculty will also be available for virtual office hours and virtual tutoring Monday through Thursday.Who Should Apply for the Program?
Remember, high school is not about being promoted from one grade to the next. It’s about successfully earning 24 academic course credits by the end of senior year. A student may benefit from the Graduation Performance Academy if any of these situations apply:
- Student transferred to a Bulloch County Schools high school from another district, state, or country and needs to earn credits to meet Georgia’s requirements.
- Student did not successfully master an academic course at any time during high school and failed to make up those course credits
- Student is not on track to earn at least 24 academic course credits by the end of their senior year
- Student is currently in a credit recovery lab class and/or the Graduation Performance Academy and will not finish by May 22.
- Student is currently failing an academic class and will not receive a passing grade this semester
Students who are approved to participate in the program may complete coursework at their own schedule and pace after school. Teachers also help students set goals to encourage success and monitor students’ progress.
