The Statesboro Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault that occurred on Tuesday.
Patrol officers responded to Cambridge at Southern the Palms on Lanier Drive around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. It was reported that a male had been shot. Officers arrived and rendered aid until the male could be transported by EMS to East Georgia Regional Medical Center. He was then airlifted to Memorial in Savannah where he remains under treatment.
According to the police department, preliminary investigations reveal that the shooting occurred on the property adjacent to reported location – at Stadium Walk Apartments. The victim then fled to Cambridge at Southern the Palms where he had relatives and associates.
Detectives processed the scene and identified witnesses and physical evidence, however, they continue to seek anyone who observed the shooting.
