SPD Makes Arrest In December Park Place Shooting

On 12/1/22 SPD officers responded to Park Place Apartments for a shooting. The 28 year old male victim was located and transferred to Memorial in Savannah. He survived and was later released, but with life changing injuries. The investigation identified 20 year old Michael Kelly (Chandler Rd, Statesboro) as the offender. Warrants were issued for Kelly, who left the area shortly after the shooting.

On 9/5/23, SPD officers received a tip that Kelly was located on Lanier Drive in Statesboro. Patrol officers were able to observe him walking and, after a short foot pursuit, take him into custody. Kelly was transported to the Bulloch County Jail on one count of Aggravated Assault where he remains pending further judicial action.
