Statesboro Police Say Verbal Altercation Led to Sunday Night Shooting

The Statesboro Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night involving at least four individuals.

The agency says patrol officers responded to an apartment in the 200 block of Lanier Drive around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023. The call was for a male with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Upon arrival, officers rendered aid to the adult male who was later transported to Memorial Hospital in Savannah as a precaution.

Detectives arrived to speak with witnesses and process the scene. It appears the shooting began with a verbal altercation after which the shots were fired. Three male suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction after the shooting.
