Why It’s More Than Just a Night Out
Beyond the music, dancing, and 1950s nostalgia, events like “Boro Nights, Senior Lights” play a crucial role in senior health and well-being:
- Connection & Social Wellness: Social connection is vital for senior health. This evening offers a joyful, welcoming space to reconnect with long-time friends, meet new neighbors, and stay active in the community.
- Active Living & Mental Joy: Getting dressed up and stepping out onto the dance floor provides an enjoyable way to stay physically active, boost mood, and create lasting positive memories.
- A Dedicated Night to Shine: From the VIP treatment on the red carpet to finding the perfect outfit in the Career Closet, every detail is designed to make local seniors feel valued, confident, and celebrated.
Community Impact
All proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships directly benefit two vital senior-focused health initiatives at the YMCA:
- LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA: A specialized physical activity and well-being program for cancer survivors.
- Cardiac Rehab Phase 3 Program: A guided exercise and support program designed to improve cardiovascular health for local seniors.
“This event is all about celebrating our local seniors and giving them a memorable night to shine while raising essential funds for programs that keep them healthy and connected,” said Hannah Beggs, Branch Director of the Statesboro Family YMCA.
“Willow Pond Senior Care is honored to be the Premier Host for YMCA’s Boro Nights, Senior Lights Prom! We value opportunities for our residents and seniors within the Statesboro community to gather and enjoy time together, which enhances their quality of life,” added Erica Sellers Wells, Executive Director at Willow Pond Senior Care. “The ‘Y’ does a great job providing programming for active seniors, fostering a sense of belonging and well-being and building relationships within a community network. These goals align with the purpose and mission statement of Willow Pond Senior Care. We look forward to partnering with the YMCA and seeing you there!”
How the Community Can Get Involved

- Sponsorship Opportunities: Local businesses looking to support the event can still get involved. Sponsorship opportunities are available for monetary contributions, food/catering, and decorations.
- Purchase Tickets: Tickets can be purchased at the Statesboro Family YMCA welcome desk or online at [Insert Link].
