This is a press release from the City of Statesboro.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Statesboro have named Jason Boyles as the sole finalist for the position of City Manager.

Under Georgia law, the City must announce the finalist at least 14 days before the council votes on the appointment. Boyles currently serves as Assistant City Manager for the City of Statesboro, a position held since 2018.

He brings 25 years of experience in local government, including previous leadership roles in Public Works and Engineering, Water and Wastewater, and Planning and Development.

“Statesboro stands at an exciting point in its storied history. Following a competitive national search conducted by Developmental Associates, we are pleased to announce that Jason Boyles is the sole finalist for the City Manager position. Boyles is an accomplished local government executive who has successfully led major initiatives, collaborated with the current City Manager to advance strategic priorities, and built strong, collaborative relationships with the Elected Body and regional stakeholders. We look forward to working together to advance the City’s mission while improving the quality of life for Statesboro’s residents, businesses, and visitors” said Mayor Jonathan McCollar.

Boyles holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering technology and a Master of Public Administration degree with an emphasis in local government management from Georgia Southern University. He possesses the Credentialed Manager designation from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Also, he is a graduate of the Public Executive Leadership Academy, a premier leadership program at the University of North Carolina School of Government.

The Statesboro City Council is expected to vote on the appointment of Boyles at its regular meeting on November 17, 2026, at 5:30 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 50 East Main Street. The meeting is open to the public. If approved, Boyles is expected to begin his duties on January 1, 2027.

The City Manager serves as the City of Statesboro’s chief administrative officer, overseeing day-to-day operations, implementing policies set by the Mayor and City Council, and overseeing the City’s fiscal resources and human capital.
