Bulloch Sheriff’s Office Searching for Suspects After Two Vehicles Flee, Crash Near Register

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office is searching for multiple suspects after an early-morning prowler call near Register led to two vehicle pursuits, two crashes, an arrest and the discovery of an apparent carjacking victim.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the Holloway Lane area around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, following a report of a prowler or possible attempted burglary.

While responding to the call, deputies encountered two vehicles. Authorities said the driver of the first vehicle appeared to be wearing some type of mask. Deputies attempted to stop both vehicles, but the drivers refused to stop and fled from law enforcement.

One of the vehicles crashed within the city limits of Register. The driver was taken into custody after what the Sheriff’s Office said was a brief struggle with a deputy.

One passenger fled the crashed vehicle on foot and deputies are still searching for him. A second passenger in the vehicle is believed by investigators to have been the victim of a carjacking. The Sheriff’s Office said that individual appeared to have been held against his or her will.

The second vehicle continued fleeing deputies along Cypress Lake Road before crashing in the area of Wolf Pen Lane. An unknown number of occupants then fled from that vehicle on foot.

Deputies are searching both areas with drones and K-9 teams. Georgia State Patrol Aviation is also assisting in the search.

Authorities cautioned residents and motorists in the area that the individuals being sought may be armed and urged the public to use caution.

The identities of the person arrested, the apparent carjacking victim and the individuals still being sought were not immediately released. The Sheriff’s Office also did not specify what charges are expected in connection with the incident.

The investigation and search remain ongoing. The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
