Congressman Allen to Serve as GOP Leader on HELP Subcommittee

The congressman from Georgia’s 12th Congressional district is now the Republican Leader of a subcommittee.

Congressman Rick Allen recently announced that he is the Republican Leader on the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, Pensions (HELP).

Allen, who is a senior member of the House Education and Labor Committee, will also continue to serve on the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education.

“Prior to serving in Congress, I spent about 40 years building and operating a small business, so I know firsthand how federal policies impact employers and employees,” Allen said in a news release. “Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we had the greatest economy in the world, and I am laser-focused on ensuring we can rebuild to pre-pandemic levels by giving American workers the opportunity to secure a good-paying job, provide for their families and save for retirement, while protecting employer-sponsored benefits like health care. As Republican Leader, I look forward to working with members of the HELP subcommittee to fight against bureaucratic overreach that too often obstructs employers’ ability to create jobs and hurts working families.

“I also look forward to continuing to serve on the K-12 subcommittee as an advocate for safe school reopenings and increased choice, whether that’s through a traditional education or technical education. Through my work on both of these subcommittees, I will continue to support policies that help every American on the path toward achieving the American Dream.”

“Representative Allen’s strong business background will pay dividends as he leads the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee,” said Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Republican Leader of the Committee on Education and Labor. “His dedication to rebuilding our economy and fostering opportunities for Americans to succeed in the workforce is exactly what we need to lead our efforts.”
