Larry Brinson Fields

Mr. Larry Brinson Fields, age 78, died Thursday morning, March 14, 2024, at his residence. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was the son of the late J. Buster Fields and Luree Brinson Fields. He was a 1963 graduate of Portal High School. Larry was a lifelong Bulloch County Farmer. He married Estelle Johnson in 1963 and the two made their home in Portal. Estelle died in 1993.

Larry was a charter member and had served as President of the Bulloch County Young Farmers, he was a member of the Bulloch County Livestock Association, served on the Board of Directors of the State Young Farmers Association and served as the President of the Georgia Young Farmers in 1978.

Larry was a mason and a member of the Ogeechee Lodge #213 F&AM where he had served as past Lodge Master. He was a member of the Statesboro Shrine Club for many years.

He was a long time member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church, where was a deacon and had served as the Chairman of the Deacons.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Estelle Johnson Fields and a grandson, Hayden Fields.

Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca Fields of Portal; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike Fields and John and Megan Fields all of Portal; three grandchildren, Stella Powell, Justin Fields and Ethan Fields and his wife Katelynn; a great grandchild, Aurora Fields, all of Portal; and a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Jimmy Akins of Statesboro. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00pm at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Elder Sam Bowen officiating. The body will lie-in-state for one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Justin Fields, Ethan Fields, Rayburn Johnson, Greg Finch, Dewayne Conner, Jim Akins and Jason Akins.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 4700 Poplar Springs Church Road, Portal, Georgia 30450.

Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
