Mr. George Alan Albers

Mr. George “Al” Alan Albers, age 86, died on Monday, February 19, 2024, peacefully surrounded by loved ones in Statesboro, Georgia under the care of Southern Manor Assisted Living and Pruitt Health Hospice.

Al Albers was born January 2, 1938, at the farm home in Hancock County, Kanawha, Iowa to George and Eulalia (Schmidt) Albers. At the age of two, his parents moved to the farm they purchased south of Ventura, Iowa. Al attended kindergarten at the country school in Union Township and first through twelve at Ventura Community School graduating with the class of 1956.

After graduation, Al and one of his best friends joined a construction crew and went to the Dakotas and Montana, building grain storage bins, returning to Iowa in the fall and later joined the U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force, Al served in Alaska, California, New Jersey, and Wyoming.

After being honorably discharged on August 27, 1960, Al embarked on a 35-year career of farming, trucking, and real estate investing. His trucking career took him to all the lower 48 states and 4 Canadian provinces, logging 2.2 million miles in 22 years.

Al retired at the age of 56 and wintered in Sarasota, Florida and returned to Clear Lake, Iowa in the summers. At the age of 70, he moved to Florida permanently.

Al was very proud of his children and proudly watched them become responsible and caring adults. They were the most important people in his adult life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Connie (Jass) Albers, his sons Jeffery Albers and Chad Albers, his sister Connie (Albers) Wise and brother-in-law Larry Wise.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Kevin Albers (Kate) of Krum, Texas, Dale Albers of Sarasota, Florida, Kimberly (Albers) Riner (Richard), his 6 grand-children; Ashle (Taylor) Westbrook, Connor Albers, Ryanne Albers, Olivia Riner, Alannah Riner, and Delaney Albers, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Southern Manor Assisted Living for caring for him, especially caregiver, Shalonda Jones and Pruitt Health Hospice.

There will be a family memorial in Clear Lake, Iowa this summer.
