Thomas Gordon Rountree , 67 of Newington passed at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility Thursday evening, November 30, 2023. He was the born to Rodney and Lexie Dean Anderson Rountree and was a graduate of Screven County High School. He was employed with Torrington and the Forestry Department as a tree planter, prior to operating his own arborist business, Covenant Tree Service. He enjoyed the beach, Brier Creek, and the Savannah River, but most of all, time spent with his grands. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brother, Randy Rountree and Freddie Rountree. Survivors include his sons, Rodney Rountree and Daniel Rountree; grandchildren, Christopher Rountree, Melanie Rountree, and Raymond Rountree; sisters-in-law, Tammy Friese Rountree and Randa Rountree. Memorial Services are to be held Monday, December 4, 2023 at 5:00pm in the Newington United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Karen Zeigler and Rev. Jim Long officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Bowles, John Ashley Rosier, Frank Boland, Merlin Stanford, Kenny Dugger, Jack Brooks, Johnny Anderson, Charles Lee, Donald Scott, Jeffery Hines, Mike Grovenstein, Tim Massey, Randy Sheppard, and Jimmy Roberts.
