Randall “Randy” Minzey Waters

Randall “Randy” Minzey Waters, age 71, passed away, peacefully, Sunday morning, March 24, after a lengthy illness of Parkinson’s.

Randy was born in Savannah, Georgia, on March 20, 1953, to James Minzey and Hazel Lunsford Waters. His family moved to Bulloch County when he was a small child. He attended school at Marvin Pittman Lab School and in his freshman year, played on the Marvin Pittman’s Ram’s Basketball Team. When he was 16, his family moved to Rincon, Georgia, and he graduated from Effingham High School, in 1971.

Randy loved the outdoors! He enjoyed fishing, rebuilding cars and trucks and creating and making things out of wood and iron. He was known by his friends and family as a master for tying knots.

Randy was a member of the Iron Worker’s Union and considered one of the best iron workers around. He retired at age 55 to help care for his aging parents and is praised by his siblings for the excellent care he gave to his dad who had a terminal illness and to his mom until her death.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents and one younger brother, Dennis Waters. Surviving are two sisters, Joyce Fischer (Randy), of Rincon, Vickie Gale (Lamar) of Hardeeville, S.C., and one brother, Keith Waters of Rincon, three nephews, one niece and several great nieces and great nephews. In addition, he is survived by a very special aunt, Mary Anne Walker of Brooklet, an Uncle Joe Conner Jr. (Martha) and several cousins. Additionally, he was preceded in death by his fur babies, Bully, Bella, and Charley, who were like children to him.

Randy’s family gives special thanks to the caregivers at The Oaks in Pooler, Georgia, who became and treated him like family.

A private family service and burial will be held in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Rev Bobby Gale officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Randy by contributing to Georgia Hospice or charity of choice.
