ECSO: 2 bodies found in Rincon home were result of murder suicide

Two bodies found in a Rincon home in early February were the result of a murder suicide.

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) concluded their investigation and found that the deaths of 57-year-old Robert Kenny and 45-year-old Jerry Rivera were due to a murder suicide.

Results of the investigation indicates Rivera asked Kenny to come over to his home on Ellis Drive in the late afternoon of February 1st.  

At some point after Kenny entered Rivera’s home, Rivera proceeded to shoot Kenny multiple times with a shotgun and then stab him several times with several knives before turning the shotgun on himself.

Autopsies are being conducted on both victims.
