The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a woman for murder following an investigation Tuesday.
The Sheriff’s Office posted on social media Tuesday afternoon that the Criminal Investigation Division was on scene in the city limits of Guyton following the discovery of a body. The county agency was requested by the Guyton Police Department.
The post stated a body was found in the home, shown to be on Pine Street, but that there was no threat to the public.
Jennifer Arlene Underwood was posted on the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office jail website around 7:00 p.m. with the charge of murder. The offense date is listed as August 19, 2025. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed Tuesday night that Jennifer Underwood is facing murder charges in the death of her husband, Johnathan Underwood.
The investigation is ongoing. Her booking photo will be released once it’s available.
