US 17 Intersection changes coming April 12 at Heathcote Circle

What: Under a Commercial Driveway Permit, contractors will remove the aerial beacon (caution light) April 12 on US Route 17 at Heathcote Circle in Savannah. Commercial development adds forth leg to the intersection requires traffic control devise changes.

Contractors are removing the caution light and replacing with flashing beacons on stop signs on Heathcote Circle and installing intersection ahead signs on US 17. Stop-sign-mounted beacons enhance safety by drawing attention to the presence of the intersection and/or traffic control, encouraging improved driver response.

While the crews are active, a short term single lane closure in each direction will be utilized to create a safe work zone. Motorists are encouraged to slow their speeds in the area and watch for the signage and cones and/or barrels alerting them to the closed lanes.  

Where: US 17/Ogeechee Road at Heathcote Circle west of Chatham Parkway in Savannah, Georgia.

When: Wednesday, April 12, 2020.

Advisory: Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
