Board Approves 2 New Assistant Principals for Rome Middle

The Rome City Schools Board of Education voted to approve Anthony Whatley and Kristen Hall as the new assistant principals of Rome Middle School during their May meeting.

Whatley is a former military service member for the United States Army. He began his military career in June of 1990 where he served for eight years.

Whatley holds a bachelor’s degree from Berry College where he majored in mathematics and minored in education. He then went on to obtain a masters in math education from Piedmont College in 2002 and his Ed.S. in educational leadership from Milledgeville College in 2005.

Starting his career by teaching math for Rockdale County Schools, Whatley brings his 15 years of experience in the classroom to Rome Middle School to support the educational efforts of RMS students and teachers. He has served as a math educator at thew Rome Transitional Academy since 2014.

Hall holds a BA/BS from the University of West Georgia where she majored in mathematics and minored in secondary education. She then went on to study secondary education at the University of West Georgia where she earned her master’s degree in the course. While in college, Hall served in leadership roles like with the student athlete advisory committee, Project Smirk (a community service organization) and the UWG Orientation Team where she won an award as the Team Leader of the Year. She is also a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Sorority.

Hall started here career in education for Carroll County Schools as a ninth and tenth grade math teacher at Bowdon High School. She was hired by Rome City Schools in 2014 to teach at Rome Middle School where she currently serves the system.

Hall will still teach math at Rome Middle School for half of the day, and the remainder of the day will be reserved for her administrative duties as assistant principal for Rome Middle School.
