Over the past several months, the Mayor and Council (working both independently and with support from the Georgia Interlocal Risk Management Agency) have explored multiple alternatives to resolve the matter without litigation. During this timeframe, there were internal discussions regarding the practicality of reinstating Mr. Snell as well as negotiations with Mr. Snell’s attorneys to explore the possibility of reaching a reasonable separation agreement.

None of these efforts led to a resolution that would be acceptable to all parties. As a result, discussions have now ended, and to the extent there will be any further steps taken in regard to this matter, it appears they will be taken through the legal system.

The Mayor and Council believe that avoiding litigation is generally in the best interest of all parties, including the City. For this reason, they engaged in every reasonable effort to find a workable solution. Despite these efforts, an impasse has been reached. Consequently, the matter is now being turned over to legal counsel appointed by the Georgia Interlocal Risk Management Agency to represent the City’s interests.

To respect the anticipated legal process, the City cannot comment further on the details of the case. Any necessary public statements will be made through our legal representatives.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as this matter moves forward to resolution.
