20 Students Receive Practical Nursing Pins in Biannual Ceremony

On May 11, 2026,. in the Joseph E. Kennedy Auditorium, 20 students in the Practical Nursing program celebrated their achievements at Ogeechee Technical College’s biannual pinning ceremony.

Instructors Angel Shuman, Felicia Barefoot, Renea Durrence, and Liz Whipple presented each student with the iconic nursing pin, symbolic of their clinical excellence, unwavering dedication, and official entry into the nursing profession.

“This pinning ceremony is a testament to the hard work, resilience, and passion of our Practical Nursing students,” said Angel Shuman, Practical Nursing Program Director. “We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and confident they will make a profound impact in the communities they serve.”

OTC’s Practical Nursing program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the healthcare field. Graduates are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) and pursue rewarding careers in various healthcare settings.

A highlight of the evening was a special tribute from the Ogeechee Region Nurse Honor Guard, which presented each graduate with a white rose in recognition of their commitment and service. The Honor Guard also joined attendees in the recitation of the Nightingale Pledge, the timeless oath marking their formal dedication to the ideals of nursing.
