Felicia Barefoot Receives OTC’s Diamond Award

Felicia Barefoot, Nurse Aide Program Director and Exposure Control Coordinator at Ogeechee Tech, was recently presented the Diamond Award at the annual spring faculty and staff meeting.

“I am so grateful for those who nominated me for this award and their kind words,” said Barefoot. “OTC is such a wonderful place to work. Throughout this pandemic it has been easy to see why we have been so successful, and that is because our employees are continuing to work diligently to bring quality education to our students in spite of the limitations we may face every day,” she added.

The Diamond Award recognizes and honors an exceptional employee who goes the extra mile and exemplifies excellence in such things as customer service, innovation, improved efficiency, a positive attitude, teamwork, community service and exemplary service to the College. All employees of the College are eligible for this award, including part-time employees, and are nominated by their colleagues.

As the primary point of contact for all things coronavirus and pandemic related, Barefoot has been working tirelessly to help maintain the safety of the OTC faculty, staff, and students. One nominator wrote, “As our Exposure Control Coordinator she has weathered the coronavirus storm head on. I know not all Colleges have had someone lead through this scary time in the manner that she has… she embodies everything that the Diamond Award represents.”

Barefoot has over 20 years of experience in public health and has been at Ogeechee Tech since August of 2014. She transferred into her current role as Nurse Aide instructor in January 2018. She has worked in Long Term Care and Public Health in her past nursing career, including grant-funded programs in Tuberculosis Nursing, Breastfeeding, and Emergency Preparedness through the Georgia Department of Public Health.
