Governor Brian Kemp announced his choice to fill the unexpired term of the Ogeechee Circuit District Attorney on Tuesday, a vacancy created following the unexpected death of elected district attorney Robert Busbee in May.
Kemp appointed Catherine Sumner. She has been an active member of the Georgia Bar since 2014.
The unexpired term ends December 31, 2028. The race will appear on the ballot in the primary election in May 2028 and the general election in November 2028.
The Ogeechee Judicial Circuit includes Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins, and Screven counties.
